Position: Executive Director of TMPI / Regional Director – Alabama
Amanda is currently teaching English Language Arts for eighth graders at Goodwyn Middle School in Montgomery, Alabama. She teaches standard and honors eighth grade ELA courses.
Amanda has wanted to be a teacher for the majority of her life. However, when she entered the classroom it was quickly evident that the potential in her students was being severely hindered by lack of opportunity and passion for growth. Enter The Mission Possible Initiative. Amanda was introduced to TMPI by a Teach For America corps member at her school. In year two of TMPI (June 2014), Amanda and Goodwyn Middle brought 7 students, along with other Alabama schools, to NYC. As Alabama Region Coordinator, Amanda will be fostering the relationships between current participating schools in Alabama, donors, contributors, and TMPI students.
Amanda spent the majority of her life growing up, in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated with a degree in Education with an emphasis in English Language Arts from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama in 2010. Although Amanda always thought she would return to Nashville, God had a much bigger plan, so she resides in Montgomery where she continues her career as an educator investing in her students and community.
